At Ride-4-Recovery, bikers start their engines to fight drug addiction

Hundreds of motorcyclists participated in the fifth annual Ride-4-Recovery in Rockland on Saturday. The event is the biggest fundraiser for the Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition and seeks to raise money to fight addiction and stigma. The ride started at the Rockland Elks Club and riders biked to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and back. All of the riders donated at least $10 to participate. They were accompanied by bikers from The Devil’s Pride motorcycle group, who’ve helped in previous years and host a BBQ at the end of the ride. “Just because somebody has an addiction problem — everybody is not a bad person because of that,” said Devil’s Pride President Drew Byer. “We’ve all been through it in some shape or form. It doesn’t matter how much money you have or how much money you don’t have, everybody’s been through it.”The money raised from the event goes towards drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs at the coalition’s two recovery houses.
