DUNKIRK, NY — There is a new addiction treatment center open in Chautauqua County.
The Acacia Network has cut the ribbon, marking the grand opening of the site on Main Street in Dunkirk.
The Safe Point Lighthouse Addiction Treatment Center will offer integrated addiction services for both minors and adults. Officials estimate they’ll serve some 500 patients annually.
Substance abuse and overdoses have been on the rise since the pandemic started. Just in 2021 alone, nearly 3,000 New Yorkers died because of an overdose.
“Here in Chautauqua County that overdoses have risen by 18% and so these are critical services that are needed more than ever,” Chinazo Cunningham, New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports commissioner, said.
“We’re here to celebrate this but also recognize that it is the beginning of transition and a transformation in the lives of people, in the lives of families and something that New York State is proud to support,” Acting Secretary of State Robert Rodriguez said.
The Safe Point Lighthouse is open 7 am – 3 pm, Monday – Saturday.
