New Virtual Addiction Recovery Program – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A new nationwide addiction medicine treatment option, Be Well Texas, has introduced virtual services for those looking to recover from addictions and mental health problems.

In partnership with UT Health San Antonio, services are provided under the supervision of specialists in addiction medicine and psychiatry.

These include substance use disorder assessment, psychiatric assessments, evidence-based counseling, drug management, peer recovery assistance, case management, and pharmacy and laboratory services across Texas.

Be Well Texas is the first virtual addiction medicine clinic founded by UT Health San Antonio and is the first of its kind in Texas with a no-pay option.

“This is the type of care that would normally not be available to those with limited resources. Our goal is really to make sure that your solvency is not a factor or a problem for you in order to get really good care, ”said Program Director Karla Ramirez.

Solutions like the Be Well Texas virtual clinic are urgently needed as the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbates the opioid crisis.

Many addicts remain isolated and cut off from traditional support networks.
