IN CONNECTICUT 2022 EVERY ELECTION SEASON WE WANT YOU TO KNOW THE CANDIDATES POSITIONS ON THE MOST PRESSING ISSUES TONIGHT HEARING THE CANDIDATES IN THE GUBERNATORIAL RACE. CAN WE ASK THEM THIS. OPIOID OVERDOSES AND FATALITIES ARE ONCE AGAIN SPIKING. WHAT NEW TOOLS CAN BE USED? SLOW THAT TREND. I WOULD ARGUE THAT THEY. IN NEW HAMPSHIRE THEY HAVE REALLY NEVER STOPPED BIKING BECAUSE THE SYSTEM THAT’S SUNUNU HAS PUT IN PLACE IS GROSSLY INEFFECTIVE. THE PEOPLE WORKING IN IT ARE WORKING AS HARD AS POSSIBLY CAN. WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR SUBSTANCE USE TREATMENT PROGRAM IS ONE STARTED WITH PREVENTION. OUR SCHOOLS, TOO, THAT THE TREATMENT IS AVAILABLE AS BROADLY AS POSSIBLE, SIMILAR TO WHAT WE’RE TRYING TO DO WITH MENTAL HEALTH. AND THAT THE MENTAL HEALTH COMMUNITY AND THE TREATMENT COMMUNITY IS WORKING TOGETHER. WE TO BE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT WHEN SOMEBODY SAYS I NEED HELP, THEY GET HELP IMMEDIATELY, NOT 2 TO 3 DAYS LATER WHEN THEY’RE BACK IN WITHDRAWAL. BECAUSE YOU MISS THAT WINDOW. AND WE FINALLY NEED TO SURE THAT THE CONTRACTING FOR ALL PEOPLE PARTICIPATING IN THIS IS AS SMOOTH AND PREDICTABLE AS POSSIBLE SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE A BUSINESS PLAN THAT WORKS FOR THEM. SO THE NEW DOORWAY THAT WE PUT INTO PLACE JUST A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO HAS HAD PHENOMENAL RESULTS. THERE’S NO DOUBT. UNFORTUNATELY, OVERDOSE AND OVERDOSE DEATH RATE IN AMERICA ACROSS THIS COUNTRY HAS SKYROCKETED ABOUT 60% IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS IN 2020, 2021. WE’RE ONE OF THE ONLY STATES THAT DID NOT GO UP AND NOW WE’RE SEEING THE NUMBERS GO UP A LITTLE BIT AS EDIBLES WITHIN EDIBLES. MIXING FENTANYL, COCAINE AND EVEN MARIJUANA IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE POPULAR. SO WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT WE’RE ADDRESSING THOSE ISSUES IN THE SHORT TERM AND MAKING SURE PEOPLE ARE AWARE. IT’S NOT JUST, OH, I’M TAKING FENTANYL. YOU MIGHT BE THINK YOU’RE DOING SOMETHING ELSE IN THE FITNESS MIXED IN THERE. SO THE CONCEPT OF NO SAFE EXPERIENCE IS REALLY A MESSAGE WE’RE PUSHING STRONG AND THEN YOU LEAN ON THE DOORWAYS FOR THE RURAL TO CARE IN TERMS OF RECOVERY, TREATMENT, RECOVERY FRIEND
